An extraterrestrial force has landed on Earth and is changing people's consciousness. At least that's what Anna has heard on the radio. Alarmed, the photographer begins to research and document her surroundings - and becomes a witness to omnipresent, invisible enemies that have taken up residence in 1970s Vienna: in the midst of a society in upheaval, its communication at a standstill in repressed pasts and in front of a future that is coming faster than people can follow it.
Breaking out of these structures - and saving nothing less than one's own (explicitly) naked existence - means refusing all conformism and role constraints. This is exactly what VALIE EXPORT attempts in her experimental science fiction debut film, in which actionism, installation art and film intertwine to create an anti-authoritarian, hallucinatory and disoriented state of emergency, the echoes of which are eerily relevant today.
VALIE EXPORT (born 1940 in Linz) is an Austrian media artist, performance artist and filmmaker. Her focus is multifaceted and includes feature films, documentaries, expanded cinema, as well as photography, body performances and installations.
She has been awarded the Roswitha Haftmann Prize and the Max Beckmann Prize of the City of Frankfurt for her work.
